Degenerate Quantum Gases and Bose-einstein Condensation
After a brief historical introduction to Bose-Einstein condensation and Fermi degeneracy, we discuss theoretical results we have recentely obtained for trapped degenerate quantum gases by means of a thermal field theory approach. In particular, by using Gross-Pitaevskii and Bogoliubov-Popov equations, we consider thermodynamical properties of two Bosonic systems: a gas of Lithium atoms and a ga...
متن کاملBose-Einstein condensation in quantum glasses.
The role of geometrical frustration in strongly interacting bosonic systems is studied with a combined numerical and analytical approach. We demonstrate the existence of a novel quantum phase featuring both Bose-Einstein condensation and spin-glass behavior. The differences between such a phase and the otherwise insulating "Bose glasses" are elucidated.
متن کاملDiquark Bose-Einstein condensation
Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of composite diquarks in quark matter (the color superconductor phase) is discussed using the quasi-chemical equilibrium theory at a relatively low density region near the deconfinement phase transition, where dynamical quark-pair fluctuations are assumed to be described as bosonic degrees of freedom (diquarks). A general formulation is given for the diquark for...
متن کاملLuttinger-Liquid Physics and Bose-Einstein Condensation in Quantum Magnets
The phase diagram of quasi-1D arrays of quantum spins in temperature and magnetic field is particularly rich: quantum disordered, quantum critical, spin Luttinger-liquid, BEC, and classically saturated phases can in principle be studied [1-3]. However, model materials are rare, where these phases can be explored experimentally with the exception of the novel metal-organic compound (C5H12N)2CuBr...
